The University of Missouri at Columbia has a 4-5 year, full-time residential Ph.D. program in mathematics education. Doctoral students have opportunities to engage in research projects and with undergraduate preservice teachers. There are 6 faculty members active in mathematics education and their research activities intersect around the empowerment of teachers and learners in K-12 settings. The faculty, in conjunction with the approximately 10 doctoral students, form a strong and supportive community with collaborative sub-groups as well as full-group meetings every Friday.

The main application period is in the Fall, with a start date typically the following August. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required as part of the application.
