NCTM MTLT Journal Club

AMTE is proud to announce its collaboration with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) in promoting and supporting the MTLT Journal Club. On the first Tuesday of each month at 7 pm eastern, the MTLT Journal Club meets via zoom to discuss an article previously published in one of NCTM’s retired journals (i.e., Teaching Children Mathematics, Mathematics Teaching in the Middle School, Mathematics Teacher). These articles often represent new ideas for preservice teachers and ideas worth revisiting for inservice teachers. And because YOU work with teachers, we need your help :)

The attached flyer has information related to upcoming meetings of the MTLT Journal Club. The title of each article is linked to the selected article. All articles have been made freely available so that anyone can access them, regardless of whether they are an NCTM member. Anyone can participate in journal club meetings, but registration is required. Each date on the flyer is linked to the specific registration page for that meeting. See https://www.nctm.org/online-learning

As a member of AMTE we are counting on you to help make this a successful collaboration with NCTM. Here are some actions you can take:
distribute the flyer to the preservice/inservice teachers you work with and encourage them to attend;
- review the topics and consider including attendance at a specific meeting (or multiple meetings) as a component of your teacher ed course(s);
- select a journal club meeting for members of your student affiliate to attend; and/or
attend yourself and share with your teachers the value of the experience.

Questions related to this can be directed to the MTLT Department Editors, Candies Cook (ccook@oxfordsd.org) and Wendy Cleaves (wpcleaves@gmail.com).
