Job Description:

The University of Florida invites applications for a one-year Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor position to work within the Mathematics Education program area in the School of Teaching and Learning. The successful applicant for this position is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate mathematics education courses, participate in student recruitment, and support online course development and delivery. This 9-month non-tenure-accruing faculty appointment will begin August 16, 2023.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Teach (face-to-face, blended, and/or online) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Participate in program development and continuous improvement, including focus groups of teachers and graduates for planning purposes.
  • Investigation of future grants for mathematics teacher recruitment and preparation.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, competitive, and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Mathematics Education, or Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in mathematics education, or closely related fields.
  • Experience working with students and/or teachers in a mathematics-related educational setting
  • Knowledge in the field of mathematics education, STEM, and Curriculum and Instruction.
  • Knowledge of teacher preparation.
  • Record of excellence in teaching and/or mentoring students in higher education contexts.
  • Evidence of collaboration with faculty, students, and other stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years of K – 12 public/private teaching experience.
  • Experience designing and delivering high quality instruction in face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats
  • Demonstrate potential to collaborate in scholarly inquiry (publications, externally funded projects, etc.)
  • Commitment to collegial and collaborative work in undergraduate teacher education programs.
  • Active participation in mathematics education professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of Florida mathematics standards.
