Math Support Specialist

Riverside Presbyterian Day School, an independent co-educational elementary day school located in Jacksonville, FL seeks a part or full time 4th – 6th Grade Mathematics Support Specialist to begin August 2022.

The successful candidate will be a confident math teacher able to support a curriculum through Pre-Algebra. The candidate should also have a clear understanding of the academic and developmental needs of the age group, work collaboratively in a team setting, inspire learning, and possess the skills necessary to enhance the overall educational experience by fostering students’ academic, ethical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the Riverside Presbyterian Day School mission and philosophy.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Education or a related field. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of Singapore Math and experience with a concept-led mathematics curriculum.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of intervention methodologies and experience as a math teacher and/or learning specialist
  • Strong understanding of children’s developmental, intellectual, and social and emotional needs
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, faculty, and administration and capacity move toward solutions through professional dialogue
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Interpersonal skills with an ability to problem solve and build consensus.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude and sense of humor

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide math  support to upper elementary students via small group and individualized instruction
  • Build students’ organizational and study skills
  • Collaborate regularly with faculty, parents, and outside resources to support the needs of students
  • Provide information to parents, faculty, and students regarding desired learning outcomes and progress toward goals and objectives
  • Provide a safe and caring learning environment that inspires learning and builds students’ capacity to develop as learners
  • Participate in faculty, grade level, and Student Needs Committee meetings
  • Ensure appropriate modifications and accommodations are in place for students throughout the school year
  • Administer standardized tests and provide appropriate support for students testing with accommodations
  • Participate in school events and activities and positively contribute to the life of the school.
  • Stay current with educational research as it relates to learning differences and instructional practices
