SMU's doctoral training in education is heavily quantitative, however there is considerable flexibility within the program to expand beyond the required methdological training.  The small size of the program allows for considerable customization, mentoriship, and apprenticeship into research.  Students are primarily funded through research assistantships and have opportunities to present at conferences and publish.
