Highlights from the AMTE 2023 Annual Conference

On February 2-4, 2023, AMTE hosted our Twenty-Seventh Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA. AMTE had a record number of registrants (713) for this year’s conference. More than 500 presenters provided over 200 sessions! The poster session was held Thursday afternoon where over 40 posters were shared. There were opportunities to visit and catch up with colleagues and meet new ones during meals, receptions, and breaks.

The opening session of the conference was titled, “Uniting to Advocate for Teachers and the Teaching Profession.” Presenters, who are pictured below, included Malcolm B. Butler, University of North Carolina, Charlotte; Sarah Demoiny, Auburn University; Enrique Galindo, Indiana University, Bloomington; Betina Hseih, California State University, Long Beach; and Luz Maldonado Rodriguez, Texas State University, San Marco.

On Friday, Randy Philipp, San Diego State University, gave this year’s Judith E. Jacobs Lecture titled “Grappling with the Tensions Between Building Foundations and Encouraging Change: What Does it Mean to Belong to X? (Where X might be Research Orientation, a Thought Group or AMTE.)”. We thank all of these keynote speakers for sharing their time and expertise with those attending this year’s conference.
