AMTE 2023 Annual Conference Information

The 27th Annual Conference will be held at Astor Crowne Plaza located in the New Orleans French Quarter. We are excited to gather with AMTE members for this annual event. Please note that the AMTE Conference hotel room block has filled. If you have not made your hotel reservations, there are several hotel options within walking distance of the Astor Crowne Plaza.

Information about transportation from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (airport code MSY) is available on the airport website. Taxis are a flat rate of $36 each way for up to two passengers. Program information will be updated over the next few weeks and a final program will be posted by January. A draft agenda is posted on the AMTE Conference website.

2023 Annual Conference Deadline: 

  • Regular Registration Deadline: Wednesday, November 30, 2022
  • Late Registration Deadline: Saturday, January 21, 2023

Conference Highlights

Thursday – February 2nd

Opening Session begins at 8:15 a.m. Coffee will be provided. There are several breakfast options near the hotel. Lunch will be provided and light snacks will be available during the afternoon poster session; these are included in the registration fee. Dinner is on your own.

Session highlights

  • The Opening Session will begin at 8:15 a.m. titled "Uniting to Advocate for Teachers and the Teaching Profession." The panelists include Malcolm B. Butler, University of North Carolina, Charlotte; Sara Demoiny, Auburn University; Enrique Galindo, Indiana University, Bloomington; Betina Hsieh, California State University, Long Beach; and Luz Maldonado Rodriguez, Texas State University, San Marcos.
  • The Advocacy and Emerging Issues session will be held during lunch on Thursday.
  • Over 40 posters will be shared during the afternoon poster session at 3:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served during this session.

Friday – February 3rd

Breakfast, lunch, and light snacks during the afternoon break will be provided and are included with the registration fee. Dinner is on your own.

Session highlights

  • Gather with your affiliate members during the Affiliate breakfast beginning at 7:00 a.m.
  • AMTE Business meeting will be held during lunch at 11:45 a.m.
  • Beginning at 5:15 p.m., the Judith Jacobs Lecture titled “Grappling with the Tensions between Building Foundations and Encouraging Change: What Does it Mean to Belong to X?” will be given by Randy Philipp, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics Education and the interim director of the School of Teacher Education at San Diego State University.

Saturday – February 4th

Breakfast and lunch are included with the registration fees.
