The purposes of this nonprofit organization shall be the following:

  1. To provide a vehicle for such purposes as addressing concerns, disseminating information and research, promoting effectiveness, and coordinating efforts in the preparation and continuing development of teachers of mathematics.
  2. To promote excellence in the preparation and continuing development of teachers of mathematics.
  3. To advocate for high quality mathematics education for all.
  4. To establish collaborative working groups of mathematics teacher education professionals.

Summary of Recent Affiliate Accomplishments and Upcoming Activities: 

1. We had two Preservice Teachers Virtual Conferences with approximately 100 preservice teachers in attendance at each conference.  One was in November 2020 and the other in February 2021.  Part of the conference was a poster session for preservice teachers to present to their peers. 

2. In fall 2020 we had a book study hosted by KAMTE board member, Kanita Ducloux.  We read and discussed White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo. 

3.  In November 2020, we had a virtual KAMTE Summit for Kentucky mathematics teacher educators to meet and discuss our work across the state with preservice teachers. 

4. In spring 2021, we hosted AMTE Webinar Watch Parties, where members came together to watch and discuss some of the wonderful AMTE webinars available.
