Join our study to write hints or explanations for 10 math problems and earn $100 and publications

Dear Math Education Faculty,

Are you interested in studying what support works best for students in an online math learning platform?

Our project aims to study what types of hints or explanations work best for which students when they are working in ASSISTments, a free online math learning platform used by millions of students. Teachers use the platform to assign students math problems from popular open educational resources such as Kendall Hunt Illustrative Mathematics and EngageNY/Eureka Math. ASSISTments is dedicated to helping students work independently on math problems by providing support in the form of hints and explanations.

We are inviting math education faculty to write their best possible hints or explanations for math problems. We will then run experimental studies to examine the effects on student math learning. The math education faculty will write hints or explanations for about 10 math problems in the content area they choose. It will take approximately 1-2 hours. Benefits include $100 stipend, prize, and publication opportunities. More information can be found here

We’d love for you to join our study.

Please contact Dr. Li Cheng at li.cheng@assistments.org should you have any questions.

Best Regards,

The ASSISTments Foundation
