Position Summary:
The Department of Mathematics & Statistical Science seeks applicants for a full-time (9-month) tenure-track faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level in Mathematics Education, beginning August 14, 2023. This faculty member will also have affiliate status with the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, Health and Human Services. They will be expected to teach courses in Mathematics and/or in Curriculum and Instruction according to the needs of the department and as directed by the department chair. They will also serve as an advisor to undergraduate students as directed by the department chairs. The faculty member will conduct research in the field of Mathematics Education or a related field, publish such research in peer reviewed journals, present findings at professional conferences, and submit proposals to extramural agencies to fund this work. They will also be expected to attend faculty meetings, and to participate in committees at the department level and the college or university level. The faculty member is expected to participate in outreach activities as directed by their chair or dean.

Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Mathematics Education or Education with emphasis in mathematics education or related field.
Masters degree in Mathematics or similar preparation.
Experience conducting research in mathematics education
Experience teaching in a P-12 mathematics classroom and/or work experience in a professional P-12 school environments.

Candidates eligible for consideration for hiring at the associate level will either be (a) currently or previously employed at the associate professor level or (b) eligible for immediate consideration for promotion and tenure at the University of Idaho including, but not limited to, showing a clear record of publications and seeking extramural funding for research mathematics education, teaching in mathematics education at the postsecondary level, and service at the department, college, and/or university level.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience preparing pre-service and/or in-service teachers to teach mathematics in a P-12 setting.
At least 3 years of contracted P-12 mathematics teaching experience.
Qualified to teach various mathematics and mathematics education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Experience working with diverse communities, including building partnerships with historically underserved populations.
Experience with external funding processes.
Experience teaching via distance-learning technologies.
Experience with internal and external collaborative partnerships.
