The Department of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences at Marquette University is pleased to announce an opening for a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Mathematics Education.

The post-doctoral researcher will work with a team of researchers supporting an NSF-sponsored project, “Fostering STEM Thinking in Mathematics Courses for Elementary Education Majors.” The project will develop, refine, and test the effectiveness of curricular modules for implementation in an undergraduate problem-solving course to provide a cohesive framework for supporting prospective K-8 teachers’ learning about STEM thinking and STEM integration. The post-doctoral researcher will be involved in all aspects of the design work, including observing and recording classroom instruction, analyzing video and student assessment data, and writing research papers for publication.

The position is full-time, 12 months, funded with a competitive salary, full benefits, support for professional travel, and the possibility of extension for up to one additional year, pending funding and positive performance reviews.

Qualifications include a Ph.D. (or equivalent terminal degree) in Mathematics Education or related discipline (e.g., teacher education, mathematics, cognitive science, STEM education). Applications ABD (all but dissertation) may be considered on a case-by-case.
