Our Specialists deliver impactful Professional Learning experiences and workshops that assist districts, schools, and teachers in planning for and implementing high-quality math instruction in print and digital formats.

Your job will be to train and coach teachers and instructional leaders to help them make the Amplify Math implementation a success in their classrooms, inspiring both student learning and engagement. 

We are looking for people who are passionate and knowledgeable about math education; who can coach and manage engagements across multiple schools; who can deliver effective and engaging professional development; and who are team players.

Responsibilities of the Amplify Math Professional Learning Specialist:

  • Facilitate engaging and effective initial training workshops and follow-up strengthening workshops, in-person or remote, for groups of up to 40 teachers and/or instructional leaders
  • Engage in planning for and communication about workshops with school and district leaders and the Amplify Math PD Team
  • Conduct coaching and PLC sessions, in-person or remote, with smaller groups of teachers and/or instructional leaders
  • Provide support to teachers and/or instructional leaders through modeling, co-teaching, observing, facilitating walkthroughs, and providing feedback
  • Participate in internal PLS training with your fellow Professional Learning Specialists and in Amplify Math Math PD Team meetings, both synchronously and asynchronously
  • Complete post-workshop reports to summarize session logistics, materials, and any additional school support needed
  • Reflect, analyze, and apply feedback from participants and the Amplify Math PD Team to grow your facilitation expertise and skills
  • Travel required
  • Provide a firm range of date for availability

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of math teaching experience in middle or high school (within the grade 6 - Algebra 2 grade band)
  • Proven experience facilitating math professional development for teachers and instructional leaders, both remotely and in-person
  • Interest in becoming an expert in the Amplify Math curriculum and instructional approach
  • Interest in deeply understanding the needs of teachers learning how to teach well with Amplify Math
  • Proven knowledge of the Common Core Math Standards and problem-based learning
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into the classroom and professional development sessions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology-based productivity tools, including Google Applications, video conferencing tools, Desmos or Geogebra, etc. 
  • Eagerness to respond to and develop from feedback from a manager, mentor, colleague, school leader or teacher, or from data in surveys or other sources
  • Ability to internalize shared materials and deliver key common talking points with fidelity
  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs. (transporting presenter kits)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field or comparable experience
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

      

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passionate about math instruction for all students
  • Master’s or Advanced Degree in Education
  • Instructional leadership experience as a coach or school leader
  • Understanding and compassion for the role of the teachers and leaders
  • Experience working with diverse student populations (English learners, SPED, Gifted/Talented, etc.) 
  • Demonstrated ability to implement instructional strategies that enhance participant engagement and equity of learning
  • Demonstrated client/partnership management experience
  • Understanding and compassion for the role of the teachers and their comfort with technology
  • Capable of working efficiently and in an organized manner in a fast-paced work environment
  • Year round availability

Employment type: Contractor (Part-time)

Compensation: Professional Learning Specialists are paid by assignment. A standard hourly pay rate will be established per assignment.

Hours: Contractors are scheduled on an as-needed basis, but must be available during school hours across all US time zones. May 16 - September 9, 2022 availability highly-preferred.

Location: In-person session delivery is required. All Professional Learning Specialists must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Currently, wearing masks and following social distancing guidelines are at the discretion of session participants and the Professional Learning Specialists (unless district requests for all in attendance to wear masks).

Equipment required: Laptop, portable speakers, and accessory cables, as needed.

Start date: All contractors will begin onboarding in April 2022. (Onboarding in April is largely asynchronous, so new team members can work at their own pace and at flexible hours as long as they meet key deadlines. There will also be live synchronous onboarding sessions for which there is typically more than one time slot available.)

Amplify Math is a brand-new K–12 program that makes problem-based instruction more teachable—and much more fun for students. Amplify Math lessons are social and collaborative experiences, based on the Illustrative Math curriculum and infused with rich story-telling and narrative. Amplify Math’s digital experience is dynamic, with plenty of opportunities for students to talk through their reasoning, work with their peers, and gain new understandings. Designed with the teacher and students in mind, robust teacher supports and differentiation opportunities are built into every activity in every lesson.  Amplify Math for middle and high school (Grade 6 - Algebra 2) will be ready for use in schools this coming school year.
