AMTE

External Support Guidelines

1.      Academies/Workshops External to the AMTE Annual Conference - Full support would be expected by the publisher, organization, project, etc.  (e.g. SHOW-ME Center Pre-Conference, 2004; NCATE training session, 2004).  These would be reviewed and accepted (or not) by the AMTE Board on a case-by-case basis.  AMTE Contribution: none

2.      Meal Functions - AMTE would encourage support for lunches, continental breakfasts, dinners at the AMTE Annual Meeting and for refreshments at the AMTE reception at the NCTM Annual Meeting.  Support at the level of 25%, 50% or 100% would be expected.  AMTE Contribution: A significantly placed ad in our newsletter, having a table/booth at our annual meeting, acknowledgement at the annual meeting (in the official program and at a meal function), one year’s membership to the Association, and the opportunity to make a professional presentation at the AMTE annual conference would be offered gratis to all such sponsors.

3.      Monographs, membership information, etc.  Support should be sought.  It would be expected that the publisher, sponsor, etc. would contribute 25%, 50% or 100% of the production cost.

4.      Other levels of sponsorship/support

v     Booth/table at annual meeting browsing room - $200/table for the entire conference or a donation of materials valued at a comparable rate.

v     Advertising in our newsletter - $400 per 1/2 page (No full page ads or ads smaller than 1/2 page).  This rate would exclude advertisements of a professional nature related to our membership - conferences, graduate study, etc.  Such ads would be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Journal Editor after consultation with the Board.

AMTE Contribution: One year’s membership to the Association.

Note:  These recommendations were made after a review of policies currently used by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, the National Council of Supervisors of Mathematics, the International Reading Association, AETS, National Council of Teachers of English, and the National Science Teachers Association.  Thanks to Jenny Bay-Williams for gathering the information and to several members of AMTE and NCSM for their suggestions and guidance.
