Global Education Resources, L.L.C. (GER) is planning a two-week Lesson Study Immersion Trip to Japan in the summer of 2005. GER, based in New Jersey, is a leading Lesson Study consulting firm that works with schools and districts across the United States to implement Lesson Study. This trip will focus solely on learning more about Lesson Study, in particular as it relates to the field of elementary and middle school mathematics, and how it is conducted in Japan. During this trip, participants will immerse themselves in Lesson Study. They will have the opportunity to observe Study Lessons developed through Lesson Study and participate in discussions of those lessons with simultaneous English translation provided by the experts at GER. To lead this trip, GER has assembled 3 distinguished individuals who are experts in the fields of Lesson Study, mathematics education, schooling, classroom teaching and learning, and the education system in Japan and the U.S. In addition, the leaders of this trip are fluent in both English and Japanese and comfortable with and knowledgeable about the culture of both countries.
