Wright State University invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor position in mathematics education starting Fall, 2008. This is a joint appointment, 5/6 in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and 1/6 in the Department of Teacher Education, with eligibility for tenure in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The successful candidate will join five mathematics education faculty and nine science education faculty, most of whom hold joint appointments in the Colleges of Science and Mathematics, and Education and Human Services. Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or the equivalent (anticipated completion of requirements by September 1, 2008), demonstrated excellence in teaching and potential for high quality scholarship. Preferred qualifications include a strong background in mathematics and three years experience teaching in grades K-12. Duties include undergraduate and graduate teaching (content and methods), research and scholarship in mathematics education, and university and professional service. Seeking external grant funding and involvement with teachers in professional development is expected. This position includes a typical teaching load of two courses per term, competitive salaries and excellent fringe benefits.
