Position: Mathematics Education- Associate Professor, tenure track

Appointment Date: September 1, 2008

Review Date: To ensure full consideration all materials should be received by the beginning review date of October 1, 2007. Review will continue until the position is filled.

Qualifications:

The following qualifications are REQUIRED of the candidate:

1. Doctorate specializing in Mathematics Education or Mathematics

2. Strong preparation in Mathematics

3. An established record of research in Mathematics Education that shows strong

promise for continued productive scholarship

4. Demonstrated success in obtaining external funding

The following qualifications are PREFERRED of the candidate:

1. Teaching experience in the college or pre-college environment

2. Work with pre-service or in-service mathematics teachers

3. Experience directing theses and advising graduate students, particularly doctoral students

Position Description: Faculty are expected to establish a strong record of publication and scholarship, to collaborate in PreK-12 school-based professional development activities, to pursue external funding and to actively engage in both individual and collaborative grant activities, to contribute to the design, evaluation, and development of undergraduate and graduate programs in mathematics education, and to participate in other faculty activities. The candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the proposed new Mathematics Education Ph.D. Program. Graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring assignments are dependent on the background of the individual and the needs of the department.
