ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/MATHEMATICS EDUCATION

Tenure-track position available August 22, 2008. Responsibilities: teaching approximately 8 to 9 hours per semester (both content and methods); research in mathematics education; professional service (including working with both prospective and in-service teachers at the elementary, middle and/or high school levels). Salary and benefits are competitive. Additional benefits for first-year faculty are negotiable. Minimum qualification: ABD in mathematics education by August 1, 2008. All requirements for a doctorate in mathematics education completed by August 1, 2009. Preferred qualifications: doctorate in mathematics education; bachelor’s degree or higher in one of the mathematical sciences; strong interest in pre-service teacher preparation; experience working in a culturally diverse academic environment; one of the following at the K-12 level—current or previous teaching licensure or certification, two years of teaching experience, experience in the supervision or development of K-12 mathematics curricula.
The department offers a range of academic programs leading to B.A., B.S., M.A., and M.S. degrees in mathematics education, pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science and also participates in a college-level Ed.D. program.
