Grand Valley State University, an affirmative action equal opportunity institution in Allendale, Michigan, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Mathematics with emphasis in Mathematics Education, with employment to begin in August 2008. The department is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute through their teaching, scholarship, and/or service to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
Required qualifications include a doctorate in mathematics education or related field by August 2008, a strong mathematics background, demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, and promise of continued scholarly and professional growth. Candidates must have excellent teaching recommendations, a strong commitment to teaching and using innovative methods of instruction and assessment, demonstrated interest in the preparation of teachers, and research interests in mathematics education. All candidates must be interested in teaching some pre-service elementary mathematics content courses. In addition, those candidates applying at the associate level should have an established reputation for pedagogical and scholarly excellence and be able to provide leadership in the area of the mathematics education.
