The University of VirginiaÕs Curry School of Education seeks an experienced, tenured faculty member whose scholarship focuses on educational outcomes in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics. The focus of the position is the stimulation and organization of scholarship in the STEM fields, likely involving applied research in classrooms or with teachers, with an emphasis on developing, implementing, and evaluating interventions that improve STEM teaching and learning and that have widespread applicability at-scale. Interdisciplinary collaboration and leadership, engagement with the community, and teaching of graduate students are also components of the position, but the primary focus is on research.  The specific program-area assignment and teaching load associated with this position are open and flexible; desired is a record of success in publication and obtaining external support. There is a strong interest in individuals who have a research focus on underrepresented groups, and who place a special emphasis on understanding and valuing diverse cultural perspectives.  The successful applicant will also hold an appointment in the University of VirginiaÕs Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning and be eligible for consideration as the holder of the Gray Chair in Mathematics Education.

 

Qualifications include an earned doctorate in Science Education, Mathematics Education, Technology Education, Engineering Education, Psychology, or any of the STEM fields; a proven track record of scholarly productivity and successful competition for sponsored program support through research grants; a collaborative and constructive work style; and a demonstrated capacity for interdisciplinary work.
