Position:               Assistant Professor of Middle Grades Education (Tenure-Track) [Focus: Open]

 

Georgia Southern University, a member institution of the University System of Georgia, is the largest and most comprehensive center of higher education in the southern half of Georgia. Georgia Southern University is classified by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching as a Doctoral/Research institution.

 

Required Qualifications:

·         An earned doctorate in Middle Grades, Curriculum and Instruction or closely related field by date of appointment

·         A minimum of three years teaching experience in grades 4 - 8

·         Demonstrated potential for scholarship in the discipline

 

Preferred Qualifications:

·         Supervision of field-based experiences

·         Experience working with a diverse student body

·         Experience using technology in instruction

 

Responsibilities:

·          Teach undergraduate and graduate level courses in middle level education and subject-specific methods courses

·          Advise graduate students

·          Supervise field-based experiences working in partnership with local schools

·          Producing scholarship within the discipline

·          Maintaining active involvement in professional middle level organizations

·          Some off-campus teaching may be required

 

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications

 

Starting Date: August 1, 2007
