Position: Applications are being solicited for an assistant professor of mathematics education to begin in August 2007. The position is a tenure-track, academic year appointment with the possibility of summer employment.
Qualifications: A doctorate in mathematics education or related field including graduate-level study in mathematics is expected. An active record of scholarship and productivity commensurate with experience is required. The successful candidate should have strong potential for or a proven track record in attracting external funding. School mathematics teaching experience is expected. The capacity to work in mathematics education with a secondary school emphasis (grades 6-12) is preferred.
Responsibilities: Conducting an active research program in mathematics education, publishing scholarly work, and seeking external funding are primary responsibilities. Another is teaching in mathematics teacher education programs for elementary, middle school, or secondary undergraduate and graduate students. Instruction in graduate degree programs and advising undergraduate and graduate students is also part of the workload. Providing other services to the institution and profession is also an expected duty.
