Kathleen Lynch-Davis
Appalachian State University
Kathleen
Lynch-Davis, a former middle grades mathematics teacher, is currently an
assistant professor at Appalachian State University. Her teaching
responsibilities include mathematics methods courses for elementary and middle
grades preservice teachers as well as graduate level mathematics education courses
for masters students. In addition, Kathleen works with inservice elementary and
middle grades mathematics teachers. Kathleen co-edited AMTEÕs 3rd
monograph, The Work of
Mathematics Teacher Educators: Continuing the Conversation and is currently the editor of the
Technology Tips column in NCTMÕs journal, Mathematics Teacher. Her current research interests center
on preservice elementary teachersÕ understanding of geometry and preservice
elementary teachersÕ perceptions of teaching mathematics to diverse learners.
AMTE has
provided its membership a venue to focus specifically on mathematics teacher
education, by providing a place to discuss issues, practices and share ideas. As
secretary of AMTE, not only will I be responsible for providing accurate
records of meetings, I will also assist AMTE and its membership in continuing
its current efforts and achieving the goals set forth by the organization.
