Lynn Breyfogle is an Associate

PA. Her responsibilities include teaching mathematics content and methods
courses for the early childhood and elementary education majors and a
mathematics methods course for students seeking secondary mathematics
certification. Lynn began her career as a secondary mathematics teacher in
suburban Michigan and later taught in rural Wyoming. In addition to her experience
teaching at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels, she has
worked with practicing elementary, middle, and high school teachers. Recently,
Lynn completed a three-year professional development project called ÒMathPro

instructional practices. Currently, she is providing on-going professional
development experiences to teachers in three local school districts and is in
the process of developing a Co-Mentoring Collaborative among 17 local rural
school districts focusing on improving middle/high school mathematics

and the Editorial Board of the 4th Monograph, ÒCases in
Mathematics Teacher Education: Tools for Developing Knowledge Needed for
TeachingÓ. Lynn is a founding member of the PAMTE (PA affiliate)
and is currently serving as chair of PAMTEÕs Membership Committee.
To me the strength of AMTE as an
organization is the community and relationships it helps to nurture and
cultivate among mathematics teacher educators. As a member of AMTE since my
days in graduate school, AMTE has been a very important organization to my
professional growth. This organization has kept me well informed and up-to-date
on best practices in mathematics teacher education and has provided me with the
opportunity to share my ideas and learn how others are implementing their
ideas. These opportunities are particularly important to mathematics teacher
educators who find themselves at institutions with few or no other colleagues.
As a member of the board, serving as secretary, I will continue the tradition
of keeping the membership informed as well as doing my part to help the
organization grow in its dedication to cultivating a community focused on best
practices in mathematics teacher education for mathematics teacher educators at
all types of institutions.
