To me the strength of AMTE as an organization is the community and relationships it helps to nurture and cultivate among mathematics teacher educators. As a member of AMTE since my days in graduate school, AMTE has been a very important organization to my professional growth. This organization has kept me well informed and up-to-date on best practices in mathematics teacher education and has provided me with the opportunity to share my ideas and learn how others are implementing their ideas. These opportunities are particularly important to mathematics teacher educators who find themselves at institutions with few or no other colleagues. As a member of the board, serving as secretary, I will continue the tradition of keeping the membership informed as well as doing my part to help the organization grow in its dedication to cultivating a community focused on best practices in mathematics teacher education for mathematics teacher educators at all types of institutions.
